Alphonse Karr – Bambusa multiplex

Do you have an indoor sun room or protected porch where you would like to have a large tropical plant to add more lushness to the décor?

Bambusa multiplex ‘Alphonse Karr’ is a clumping sub-tropical species with beautiful multi colored stems that does great in containers on patios and decks in the summer and inside for winter as it can damage in cold temperatures.

New shoots emerge a bright yellow and have random green pin striping. As the stems are exposed to direct sunlight, the yellow color on the canes will “blush”, turning a beautiful burgundy red. The overall height in a pot in our area is about 10 to 12 feet, with an average stem size of  ¾ to 1 inch.
